Back to the drawing board (looking for a lab, or GSP pup)
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:23:47 PM »
I put a deposit for 2nd pick black male out of a Wind River Labs breeding. There were only two male blacks born. Now the breeder tells me the sire jumped in the whelping pen, and broke the back of one of the black males?  :bash: :bash: :bash: This essentially eliminates my pick. Has offered me refund or pup from other litter. I'm gonna start over. Any help out there? Looking for a black lab male from proven field trial lines, or a GSP from proven lines. HELP!

Call Rocking M Labs in Spanaway. If they don't have a pup available they'll know someone that does.

from what I have heard a wind river lab would be worth waiting for :twocents:

If you are looking for a pointing lab I would suggest Tri Lab in Tonasket.  If a flusher is what you are looking for then I agree go to Bryant and Cindy at Rocking M Retrievers.

I know of two awesome litters on the ground right now. Field trial breedings. One is $2,500 a pup the other $3,000.

It's a haul for you, but Cecile @ Cougar Creek Labs in Arlington breeds fantastic labs from hunting champion lines.  That's where I got Maggie and she's been a great pet and hunter.

Just to be clear. While I'm very disappointed not to get a male from the Wind River breeding, I certainly can't fault Wind River. Lee's been great, and offered me several options including a full refund. I feel bad that she lost that pup, and now have to consider how to proceed. This occurrence of bad luck doesn't impact my opinion of Wind River labs, just threw a big wrench into "the plan". PLUS....... to complicate matters further, my kids knew they were getting a puppy right around Christmas time.... :(  Maybe they'll still get one, only it'll be a Wind River girl instead?   :)

Have you considered one of Wind River’s started labs?

This litter was just whelped and it is a very similar breeding that we have done before that produced great point and talent. Contact Mike or Tiffany for the info. We are whelping them for them as the Dam is from one of Joan's previous breedingsm  The dam is a APLA certified pointing lab that has great style and the sire is a really nice Field/Amature Field champ that has a great attitude in the field and house. Sorry the litter of Lee's did not work out.  Some times pick of the litter is not as important as having the breeder pick what you want.  Lee has a lot of experience placing dogs for her buyers.  Good luck!

This is not accurate. Please refer to the email I sent you.

My males do not have access to the puppies or litters. They are not even housed in the same building.
