finished 5x5 elk plaque
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:30:32 PM »
My father in-law did up my Dads 5x5 from wyoming in '98. We just got tired of the cheap store bought mount and did something our selves. A little stamped leather, some brindle bull hair on hide, and here it is! That is my first true 4x4 muley from '05 hanging buy the bull. Deer was done by a real taxi.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

That looks like a pretty fancy piece of art...good work.  I really like the material you used to wrap the skull plate...brindle bull hair on hide?  I'm not familiar with that, but it looks awsome.

Thanks Coastal! A bull rider wanted some "hair on" chaps made with that color. That was just a piece of leftover leather we used on the plaque. We ordered a whole cow hide that was tanned with the hair left on it. I want to do a horn mount someting like that for a 3pt Muley I have as well.
