Yes Bone, It really awfully Corral Icy inside Trax. It was 5 degree yesterday and today in the morning.  Really TOUGH hunting for me. :bash:

Sat morning went up Cy searching for Trax cover 30 miles worth of roads trying to learn about what trax was cut from what day and sweep it off so I know it is old. Cuz I left Wed night and it hasnt snow every since. Frustrate about that.
So I left to other Cy. Search cover 15 miles roads. No luck. Come back down finally found fresh trax. Turn loose. Our hounds ON FIRE!  So We hike up and spend time under tree.

Cheers!

Next day on Sunday, Finally get to meet Bone in person. Discuss over what any idea to start. So He went other Cy and I went other Cy and come back meet again and I found Cut crossed my sled that I went check Sat evening to learn if there any cut or nothing and it was NOTHING yesterday at 2pm that I checked. I Went back and checked this morning notice Cat crossed my sled track. So I told Bone I found it. So haul it out in to Wolves Country. I kept telling myself DONT do it. But I know its part of life. So I turn loose two really getting FIRED! Went really really DOWN HOLE where most traffic area or kill spot and possible Wolves washed whole tracks chase cougar off and circle a lots.  Two hounds Ran out 1.5 mile from our truck. Way out over there so We hurry drove out and go next Cy and Tracking Gps on where they local and we passed their cross Road and I didnt know so we keep going and going 800 yards down to End Road finally saw two hounds on 2nd cross Road thur pravite land. Geez. So I step out and look around found a cougar cut A DAY OLD! No way How possible She went on Hot track  became to DAY OLD trax. Cross to Pravite land and We LEASHED our dog and walk thur Road found Wolves Tracks. We cant prove it true. Its Completely Powder snow and stranger tracks inside when its powder falling inside but some big some small. We cant say it but We know they live somewhere here. Since I know they always been here for three years.
So we abort hunt in this Wolves Country.

Head to other Cy I spend 30 miles snowmobile. Soon I unload my sled and start off with in 300 yards Cut a BEAUITFUL cut appox 130 to 140 that STEP my sled Track from YESTERDAY!  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:  I left about 830 am yesterday and I saw a Toyota white Rig with a BIG TOM dead on his truck at about 430pm So I believe Cougar Crossed around Noon that I was already left at 830 head to other Cy.  Geez.... Again I went up more miles and crossed another Big Female Cut that I already checked and it wasnt cut until sometime Noon same as other. Other houndman turn loose and didnt see any drag blood look like released. So I missed two oppourity if I stayed or come back at Noon. I would have filled my tag on 140 lbs tom. Oh well. Its Part of Hunting.

So We abort and head out other Cy and Cut Female that made three way Traffic on Road and confused us which OUTLINE to turn loose and it was ONE day old. I havent check this CY ever since open day. So Now I know what to look for.

So I went other Cy Decide to go back to Last Tree We Treed Yesterday and it was 16 Hours old Trax.  :chuckle:  So I leash blackberry walk back to tree and she get FIRE!  :yike:  COLD NOSE! She ran all way up 800 yds way way up...  So I turn loose Elmo He walking like limbing look like Sore feet or peeling from Freeze snow. By half way up he start to bark and One Ranch other side of Hill has few dogs. So they ran down to their Ranch and We went in and picked up.

It was tough day. Sorry I wish I could get something UP for ya to get some Pics. Trust me we will catch something next time.

Picture with my hand cut that Other houndman came and turn loose while I was gone to other Cy. Dang...

Mulehunter, thank you for letting us share your hunt.  Every time I see beautiful hounds working I get hacked off at wildlife management by referendum.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Thanks for the story, sounds like a fun time.  Some of that country you turned loose on is straight up and down, tough going even on bare ground.  You just need some snow flurry's to cover all the old tracks.  Might get some today, it's heavy clouds here, still dark at 7:00, I'll keep you posted. Hope your dogs feet don't give out on you.
