wyoming draw question
« on: December 03, 2010, 07:42:49 PM »
does anybody know how the point system is in wyoming. my question is if my brother has 3 points and i have one would we average 3 points for the draw this year or do you get the point after the draw if you want to buy it so we would only be averaging two points for this years draw. thanks

Add your points together & divide by 2, that's the # of points you both will go into the draw with, in your case 3 & 1 is 4 divided by 2 you both go in with 2 points! Good Luck!

:yeah: Unlike Washington though, I think Wyoming also rounds up instead of down like WA. So if you average out with 3.5 point average, that would give you four points for your total, Washington I still think goes the other way down to 3.

Actually in Wyoming if you average out to 3.5 points that is how many points you have in the draw.  They do not round up or down.  If you average out to 3.33 points that is how many points you have.  No rounding.

In wyoming 75% of the tags go to the guys with the most points.  So if there are 10 tags that are going to the guys with the most points and there's 30 guys that apply for those 10 tags it would break down something like this.

There are 5 guys with 5 points.  All 5 guys would get the tag.  There is 1 guy with 4 points he would get 1 tag.  There are 2 guys with 3.5 points they would both get tags.  And there are 2 guys with 3 points they would get the last two tags.  Anyone under 3 points would not get a tag.

"For party applications, all of the applicants’ preference point totals will be averaged to determine the preference point ranking in the preference point drawing."

My presumption from looking at their drawing reports (sample below) is that the precision of the averaging results in exactly a whole number, or between two whole numbers.  There are not any ".3" or ".5" applicant point totals listed.  For example, you will see "3", "< 4", and "4": everything greater than 3 and less than 4 goes appears to go into the same pool of "< 4".

Bob,
Your presumption is WRONG.  They do not round.  Call them.

What you are looking at Bob is the guys that did not have enough points to draw out of the 75% pool.  What you are looking at is the guys that did not have enough to draw and were put into the 25% pool.  Go here and look.  This is a draw odds web page.
