I am not set on what i always start with. It depends on the time of year. Are they in sex mode or food mode, do they have pups defending territory? etc. The only thing that is set for me is what i finish a stand off with. That is either the yote death cry or pup distress.

If my memory is correct, the "sex mode" is in January, mating season. Correct me if I'm wrong. :chuckle:
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

So how do you start off your sets? What do they consist of?
Ill be doing a seminar in lacey on jan 8th and can answer alot of your questions, try to attend, youll learn alot .
already seen a few paired up , probably just hunting together , its still a lil early for breeding season and the way they are still coming to the call i feel pretty confident that they have not started yet , its going to start getting harder to call them in soon .  here is a tips page i wrote several years ago , alot of it does not apply anymore due to the new models of FoxPro callers but there is still alot of good info for the beginners. hope it helps you out .

I just put this on my calender.  So I will be there.  Great information you have provided by the way.  Will FoxPro give out discounts on their Prairie Blaster?  :)

Discuss about the phases of yote hunting.
What makes a good decoy and is having the ability to turn the decoy off and on remotely a desired feature?
From each phase what is a good typical set up to use.  If you have time what are some suggested changes to the typical sounds if the yote hangs up to increase the probability of getting them into shooting range.

When hunting during the muzzleloader season. there was several pairs already together, but like said they are just hunting right now. It's cold out and right now they are hungry. I hope to start chasing them soon. Been busy, getting caught up. After my late hunts.

A lot of folks will tell you to use a pup distress or adult distress after the first coyote is shot, to try and stop the second coyote.  90% of the time I still prefer to get back on the distress sound that brought them into the call at this time of year.  Especially, if they have come in during the first 15 minutes of a stand.  I have called pairs to me and shot one at 50 yards while another is 15 yards from me, and have called back that close coyote to within 20 yards again.  When you have a sound that has brought them in, then a lot of times the gunshot will not totally deter the second coyote from coming back.
Dreams are forever on the mind, realization in the hands.
