My season is over. Tag soup recipe needed :(
« on: December 05, 2010, 08:09:32 PM »
No deer and no elk this year.  I learned a lot though.  It seemed like every trip into the woods I made, I learned something and got closer to animals.  And, when I want to get excited for next year, I'll just look at this picture I took today:

You know this is an awesome sport when a picture of turds and a hoof print gets you excited.  :chuckle:

Don't let the end of the season stop you from continuing to learn...you can learn alot that can benefit your hunting by spending time in the woods around animals during the off season.  A lot of people who consider themselves good hunters couldn't tell you a thing about what animals do outside of the hunting seasons.

Just remember to keep your distance and don't harass them...

Had tag soup this year. Cooked it with beer and whiskey.

add a little lawn grass & a couple of bugs to the boil to bring out the natural flavor, I like cowboys ideas as a marinade.

I saw that shelton was on the list of top 200 outdoorsman cities to live in in America. Can you tell me more about it please?

OK in spots for Blacktail.  quite a few bear and a cougar or 2.  That's about it for big game.  Really shouldn't be on that list.  Probably made it because 90% of the county gets hunting licenses every year.

Fishing is ok.  Saltwater and freshwater opportunities.

If I had 2 or 3 more days where I went today, I would have one.  fresh tracks and fresh poo everywhere.  Very clear sign leading from deep, dark timber up to a clear cut.  In the cut, there was a bowl about 500' around with almost nothing but grass in it.  All of the tracks and poo led to that bowl.  I will from now on call it the Salad Bowl.  I think if I could have been there at first light, I'd catch one.
