The sportsmens show does typically have a bugling seminar. Last year they did and it was worth attending. The guy who owns Deep Timber sounds did the lecture.

Buy a DVD from Joel Turner.  He is a world record elk caller.  He often has seminars in the area in the summer.

Is there a site or youtube that has a basic list of elk sounds and their meanings?  I have a cow reed and a bugle and can make the sounds but I need to know what each cadence means.

I'm quite certain you can find this stuff on-line but the magic comes in the practical applications of the sounds.  My good friend, mentor, and former employer, Larry D. Jones produced a cassette (yeah, this was a long time ago!) tape called "Introduction to Elk Talk".  I highly recommend this and the other audio cassettes: http://pointblankcalls.com/Calling-Elk_c17.htm

Elk Fever and Elk Fever II are "classic" videos that will show you by example how to set up when calling elk.  I used to be Larry's cameraman and call designer back in the day.  Larry sold Wilderness Sound Productions a few years ago to focus on his Video Producer job with Bowhunter.  Two great guys have purchased the company, now re-branded as Point Blank Hunting Calls.

Rocky Jacobsen of Bugling Bull calls usually puts on seminars here on the west side during the summer.  He should have one at WIlderness archery again sometime in June or July?

Look up ELKNuts web site, don't have the link, will look, but I'm sure some one on here has it, and I think he visits this site occasionally.

Hey this is Joel Turner,

I will be doing a seminar at Rainier Archery in Graham on August 13th.  I will be doing several more in the area as well this summer.  I will be doing one at Bob's Sporting Goods in Longview WA, but the date has not been set yet.  I will be putting all of my seminar dates on the Point Blank Game Calls website very soon.

Take Care,

JT

Memory lane...
Is there a site or youtube that has a basic list of elk sounds and their meanings?  I have a cow reed and a bugle and can make the sounds but I need to know what each cadence means.

.  My good friend, mentor, and former employer, Larry D. Jones produced a cassette (yeah, this was a long time ago!) tape called "Introduction to Elk Talk".
I ran into those tapes the other day in my garage, had "Introduction to Elk Talk" and "Master those Bugling Bulls" cassettes back in the 80's wore them out, cannot even find a cassette player anymore....
I have attended lots of seminars, including Joels', plan on getting Elknuts stuff, but seems like every year I find out the Elk did not attend the same seminars I did.
