395 Corridor doe tag
« on: December 05, 2010, 12:44:40 PM »
My friend sais he has a 395 Corridor doe tag that is good still for a week or two in December. Anyone hunt this tag before? I am doing some looking at the regs and at a map. I cant figure this tag to be hard to fill. Any ideas are welcome!

Lots of private land.  Knock on some doors and hopefully he is impressionable.

If its deer area 1035 for the 2nd deer tag, its all on private land.  I think that tag is good until the end of the year, but you better start knocking on doors soon.  I have a friend that is a guide in the Springdale area and in years past this was an easy tag to fill.  I also have a friend that lives in Addy and he told me the deer are pretty scarce right now.

The deer in that area have been having a hard time the last 5 years due to the hard winters. Many of the farmers aren't even allowing access for doe hunts now because the deer numbers are severely down.  I am sure that if you knock on a few doors, you will find some access though.

Springdale isnt in the unit.  The unit encompasses most of the valley from just south of Chewelah up to Colville.  Its all private, but I would try the NW part of the unit just to the SW of Colville and you might have some luck by knocking on some doors.

There is some state land off Orin Rice Road.  I use to take deer there every year religiously.  And still will with people that want a doe for the freezer. Downside is there are no mature bucks. fairly well known state land so not giving anything up. What I found interesting is no one but locals hunt it (and they all road hunt) as it is not that much state land. For over 8 years I had the only camp in the area. Never skunked. There are also some rudimentary temporary fences and gates but you are welcome to open them and enter as the state simply leased for some cattle grazing and the land remains open to the public (little known tip).

Orin Road at 395 is the eastern boundary of the deer area.  Less than a mile to the west is the western boundary of the deer area.  I'm not familiar with any state land being in that 3/4 mile stretch?  There is some further west but that is outside the area.

This is what I am seeing.  The deer area is between the orange lines.

Great Map Bob33.  And your absolutely correct my advice was just out of area.  Looks like they mapped the flats for this hunt.
