Teanaway Bull Hunt
« on: December 07, 2010, 01:51:35 PM »
Here goes my attempt to start a thread for my muzzy bull elk hunt.  If any of you have followed 6X6 in his quest for a bull then stop reading now.  This story will not be the poetry that he spilled out onto the pages.  However, I think it will be a good one.  Ever since I got this tag I have been dreaming about putting an elk on the wall.  I have only killed one elk in the past and that was a cow with my bow.  Don't like the crowds so haven't given elk much effort unless I get drawn.  I had 11 points so that tells you how long it has been since I hunted elk.  I've done some scouting in different areas and thought I had a pretty solid plan for the opener.  The snow hit, which is what I wanted but seemed to neglect the fact that with the snow also comes snow mobiles.  I'm sure the elk are in my spots but just hiding a bit more.  I had been in contact with 6X6 through the past few months and ended up meeting up with him on one of my last scouting trips.  It was a pleasure meeting him and he went above and beyond the sportmanship I had expected.  Let's just say if/when I score, I may owe him my next child.  It was fun watching him do his nightly dance with the elk, he was close but didn't notch his tag until two days later.  I leave tomorrow with the help of my brother-in-law and maybe my dad.  Hope you enjoy.

Good Luck on your hunt, and if the bull of your dreams doesn't hit the ground. Not a thing to worry about because any bull will be a trophy. Just have fun and do the tag proud, that is all you can do. The rest is up to the elk gods, I hope they are smiling for you on the hunt.
