satsop 651
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:26:53 PM »
I have hunted muzzleload deer and elk pretty hard the last 2 years and although I have been close to getting big bulls a few times I have never had the opportunity to squeeze the trigger yet.  I am gettin pretty desperate and frusterated here and think I just need to have a doe hit the dirt to get the ball rolling.  So this weekend I am gonna hunt the 651.  Only area I know is the matlock area which is pretty thick and the couple logging roads near the satsop river which are pretty popular.  I really hate to ask but can anyone point me in the right direction?  Thanks guys.  PM me if you would like.

There are always some great bucks taken out of the Matlock area every year.  The place is so flat it's pretty easy for deer to give you and every other hunter the slip.  Just takes being in the right place at the right time.

Could anyone tell me if the G-line road is open on the weekends ?  I used to hunt it a couple years ago, I think I remember hearing they locked the gate to keep out wood cutters ? anyone know ?
