People go where the birds are flying and if you got a killer spread and are an excellent caller and have ducks swarming your dekes it will be only a matter of minutes before every wanna-be and their brother will all around you sponging off every duck you bring in.. Public land really bites most of the time.

I will definitely agree that it sucks when that happens, but your on public land. I know I'm in the minority on this topic but in that case, I would have moved. I've rowed that entire place in a marsh rat and get around quick. What I've always seen is the guys that are new to the area go up McAllister and hunt there so I stay as far from there as possible. Go where the big boats can't and don't worry about those a-holes.

I only had the morning to hunt so moving was not really an option since these a$$holes showed up 5 minutes before shooting light. By the time I'd have picked up my $hit, moved and set up again, it'd have been time to head home.
Besides, moving is an easy way out and lets the a$$holes think they're OK doing what they did. I'm not a good mover nor am I able to keep my mouth shut very well. I've been paddling my canoe around Nisqually since the early 80's when hardly anyone duck hunted out there. Now it super popular, boat launch full of big trailers and you want me to move? Where???

I got Rained on today at Smith farm Camano Island... Normally i'd be a little up set, but since I took a brisk dip in a ditch i was not as hot as i might normally get.... I decided to move  and it worked out...

Hear is kinda a funny story I'd like to share with ya all... So today I'm sitting with one of my buddys on his lease, we had just got done scouting out some birds not to much flying so anyhow we our sitting at the barn shooting the breeze when we hear two shots at the back end of the property, so we went to go see what the he'll was goin on too our surprise two youngsters  12 mabe 13 had walked up the slu into his fields don't think they ment no harm. When we approached them they had a mallard drake down i'n the middle of the slu with no dog, after telling the young boys that this was privite property and they were trespassing and not to come back i'n there my buddy sent his dog i'n after the mallard when the dog dropped it at his feet... IT HAD A BAND my buddy handed the boy his bird and said nice shot... What do u say to a kid so young that didn't really know he was i'n the wrong without ruining waterfowlin for the boy????

Yea, great way to pick up some used xbox games  :tung:

I think you handled it well. You had to stress that it was private prop, but still be cool about it

Handled very well I think. The only other thing I might add would be to invite those two young guns with you next time you're going out. Nothing like passing on some years of experience, etiquette and doing a good deed at the same time.
