I'm all for people using dogs to find sheds but by far the best part of shed hunting, for me, is spotting them.
We're not a family big on pets. But if I could get a shed dog that could also run upland birds...
a what?
They shed very little and are hypoallergenic.
Even hypoallergenic dogs can bring that out allergies in some people so I would be careful.I know German Wirehaired Pointers/Drahthaar (another versatile dog) have been used for Mt. Lions. They are a cross between a German Shorthair Pointer and a Pudelpointer. I have heard of people using them for sheds also.I have never personally owned a Pudelpoiner but know several people that have and they are by far some of the best dogs I have ever seen. I will definitely own one some day when I have more time. I already don't have enough time for my Lab's. I have no doubt a pudelpointer could be trained as a multi-purpose dog to hunt upland game, cougar and sheds.
