Not sure why it wouldn't be legal.  :dunno:  Lot's of water there. There's gotta be plenty of safe places to hunt ducks.

Well there's a heck of a lot of lake that doesn't have homes built on the shore. But I'm not really sure Lake Chelan has much area for ducks to feed.   :dunno:

You better have a good sized boat if you attempt it.  Those waves can get big.

Lake Chelan's shoreline is mostly steep and deep, with waterfowl habitat that is practically non-existent.  A pretty sterile environment for duck hunting from what I saw when I used to Scuba dive there.  there are better lakes with marshy shorelines and food that ducks like.  And as stated elsewhere the wind can make the lake an inhospitable place, even in the summer time.  A buddy and I duck hunted years ago, and never even considered going to Lake Chelan.  Banks Lake and the Winchester Wasteway were our favorite places as I recall.

ya i never thought it was that good of an area for ducks with not alot of food and marshy areas on the lake but when i was there in January and everything was frozen there were probably probably a couple hundred puddlers and a ton of geese in manson bay and the shoreline between manson an chelan had quite a few pods of divers..

The trouble with divers is they taste like what they eat. :puke:

no way in the world you could hunt Lake Chelan... all the shorelines until you get up to the Narrows are private and there are not any birds above the narrows until you get all the way up to Stehekin... not worth it... water is too big for there to really be very good flights as it is...

since the lake i so big and wide i wonder if you just have to be a certain distance from shore, like areas in the sound.. :dunno: i hunt out of a 18' northriver so i dont think the waves would be that big of an issue..

Call the local Sheriff and ask, they'll probably get the calls first. And Wenatchee District Office (509) 662-0452

The thing is, it's really not that wide.  It's basically a 25 mile long wind-tunnel above the narrows, which is why the water there can get so ugly so fast.  Your NR is a good boat - but have you been on Chelan above the narrows during a blow?  That might be a  :bdid:
