Good deal Dale! Glad to see you get a bear :IBCOOL: The death moan is pretty crazy! My bear did it this year. The good thing about it is that you know they are mortally hit. That is the only time they will moan like that. After I shot my bear he flipped over backwards and I could not see him anymore. I knew I was solid on the shot, but not seeing him after the shot sucked! I could not tell anything. After about 30sec he started moaning and I knew he would be right there where I shot him. Congrats on a nice bear bud!!!

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone. I gotta tell you, I don't get to hunt that much for myself and it was kind of wierd hunting for myself...  :chuckle:  I am used to someone else doing the shooting, probably why I missed the big one, I'm out of shooting practice, no real good excuse, just don't shoot as much as I should, no doubt the big one should have been dead...  :chuckle:

For the record, I was using a Sako 30/378 topped with a 6x18 Swarovski and 180 gr Barnes TSX. Bullet as usual went right through. It was the first animal for the rifle, it has less than a box of shells through it. I have to tell you, I am impressed with that gun, recoil is incredibly light, not as bad as my 300 Win mag or my son's 7mm.

Turkey Slayer, unfortunately I didn't have any other bear hunts this spring. Just Michelle and myself. Could have used another half dozen hunters to keep busy. Next year there will be more tags so I am hoping we get more hunters. So far I am still 100% on our spring bear hunts.  :twocents:

Nice bears guys.

Just curious. Are they loaded with ticks this time of year?

Dale and Anthony kept finding ticks but I never even pulled one off of my clothes.  I think they just don't like me.. :chuckle:

I didn't notice any ticks skinning out either Bear.  I havn't pulled mine out of the freezer to Split, Flesh, and Salt yet.
