Trail cams in the winter????

I put out a couple of cams today at 2700', there is about 2 1/2' of snow and lots of elk and deer sign. I know they winter there and was wanting to get some pics.

My Question is: How will my cameras do if they are out all winter???
They are suppose to be water proof. If I can't get to them till spring?
Anybody have any experience with this??

I have noticed the colder the weather the shorter the batteries life.  I guess that is to be expected.

Yes, batteries have less life at colder temperatures.  Some consumer group did research into which battery performed the best in the cold and it was the Kirkland batteries from Costco that got their nod.  I'll probably deploy my trail cam again now that woods are quieting down (from people.....not the massive herds of animals).

I waited till the day after archery deer got over in this unit, didn't want to loose a camera. I am using the Energizer Lithium 8X, they seem to work great

The batteries will burn out long before spring. We found over the last few winters that batteries that last 10-12 weeks in the summer only last 4-6 weeks in the cold. Cameras should be fine so long as no one finds them. If the animals winter there you may have to wonder about shed hunters  , and photographers on snow shoes.
