I don't think they have too much value as a hunting gun.  From a story I heard they weren't much of a combat weapon either.

When I was in college the store I worked at used to sell them (old surplus from wwII and Korea maybe???).  Anyway, one day this old vet walks and and tells me how bad they were.  He said he shot a guy 2 times right in the boilerroom with 1 and the fella kept comin at him.  :mgun2:
Ended up using it as a club to clobber the guy... he said they were great clubs. :chuckle:

Hey Mtnwlkr, I got a Rock-Ola too-1943 model.  I paid a whole $ 27 for it thru the NRA in '62 when I was pack'in an M-14 for Uncle Sam.  It was fun in the 60's to out in the desert NW of San Berdernadino, CA & pop jack rabbits w/it.  I would have to chk in the WAC or RCW to see if it's puny ft-lbs of energy is legal as a big game weapon in WA.  Might be good for a trapper to carry (what the heck do I know about trapping?).  Of course I have shot Blacktails & Black Bears w/my SKS (not anymore mind you).

I'm torn between keeping it for sentimental value (I never shoot it anymore) or turn it into $ towards a 308 Marlin.  My wife is on to me though-she said I don't need another rifle-ever hear that hunters?.  Actually a new rifle always changes my luck if I am in a "slump".

Was in special forces in Viet Nam didnt like the .30 carbine. Metal jacket didnt have enought knock down power for what ever you were shooting. Might as well throw rocks.
