.30 carbine. any real use for it?

any of you do any hunting with a .30 carbine?  i grew up with a pair of them, but never deer hunted with them.  also found out not much good for coyotes past 75. long track job. they are a fun gun to shoot tho. one of these days i will go back to ark and get most all of my hardware. one carbine is a #'s matching rock-ola, and the other is a  springfield.

Unless they have sentimental value, sell them now(prices are crazy) and buy something you can use.
They are neat little guns but don't do much, and ammo prices aren't that cheap anymore.

no thanks. not selling them anytime soon. fine example of American wartime ingenouitey?.
i believe i read somewhere that it was the us's most produced weapon..
anyhow, dont think i would get rid of them unless someone waved a wad of cash in front of me..

they are fun to shoot and play with. anyone else have or used to have one?

spray and pray?.. actually , for a gun with such loose tolerances, they can be a suprisingly accurate. my rock-ola was especially superbly accurate.

Is that the same as the M1 carbine?
My Grandfather in law sort of...had one.  He repaired tanks and was part of Pattons troop.  It was what he carried in WWII.  I'm not sure if that was a .30 carbine or an M1 or what.   Still had two magazines flip flopped and taped togetehr with electrical tape.  Idabooner had a bucnh of ammunition loaded up for him and we got to shoot it a couple wintery days up in the Methow.

Archie had the 30 carbine, I have the dies for it.  The M 1 is a 30-06, about 9 lbs. worth. The carbine was developed in WWII, 1940 for in house fighting, plinking is about all it's good for. Not very accurate. For comparison at 100 yds it has 500 ft. lbs energy, where the 30-30 has 1140 ft. lbs.

mine must be an exception. i find the peep sights on these things are quite nice.

IT was a fun gun to shoot, especially with the history behind it.  He liked it because it was compact for going in adn out of tanks etc.

i was offered, two years ago, 1500 for the rock-ola one. some fellow trying to buy all the ww2 stuff he could.. told em no way.  from what i hear, they really are tearing up the market..
 i talked to my g-pa.. he said most marines hated the damn thing. too weak.. he said the ones in the rear liked it a bunch. no substitute for the old garand.

I've got one, and I believe it is an Inland brand of some sort, researched it and found it was made by GM.  Sounds like now may be the time to sell the thing, what are they going for?

.30 carbine is the weapon I carried in Germany, 58-59, as a field vehicle mechanic, much easier to maneuver around in tanks and howitzers with.
