More cougar info...

This is a pretty cool article about a cougar study done in Alberta I think... at least it was in Canada... some interesting points:

They collared and studied 54 cats and ID'd over 1500 kill sites.

Males in the study covered up to 600 square miles! Females were in the 60-125.

Up there, the males concentrated on MOOSE...with one cat killing 18 moose in a year!

Adult males took an average of 10,300 pounds of biomass a annually!

Of the 54 cats, the males ranged from 140-165, with the exception of one that went 180... he preyed primarily on Moose and Feral Horses!

Dang, could you imagine getting nailed by that 180lber?  Pure, coiled spring steel, muscle with claws.  Damn, imagine he did ok against those Moose and Horses also.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

When I was running cats in the Kelly Creek area over in the Clearwater River area of Idaho a few years ago, we stayed away from the elk herds that were wintering on Kelly Creek and concentrated our efforts where the moose were.  That's were the cats were and we saw very little wolf sign.

so we need to bait moose into urban Seattle, so the Cat's will follow.  Then the Cats can have the easy prey known only as "liberal".  "liberal" is a squeamish little animal.

Sorry, All I could pictures is me leading Moose like a team of horses and team of cats following waiting for the opportunity to strike.
