I made the horrible mistake of putting a wet shotgun in a gun case and opened it up the next morning to the lovely sight of rust on the receiver.  I know better and should have wiped it down before getting into the truck.  Any recommendations our there?  I live in Everett.  Thanks and good hunting to all!

How bad is it?

Usually a little gun oil on a rag will clean it up pretty well if it's just minor rust.

the rust created some pits on the receiver, but the barrel rust just wiped off with some gun oil and some elbow grease.   I've done a little research, I guess I want my gun back to factory finish and it looks like 200+ is the going rate.

it was only like that over night and i has pitting? i dont see how it can cause pitting that's worth $200 to fix.

I haven't farmed out much shotgun work in a few years. I had some twist, and castoff work done on a sxs by a guy named R.J Sommers. He is in Chehailas. He did excellant work for a few hundred bucks.

I had some work done at Kesselring's in Burlington on a older SBE. They could fix you up.

Stan Bakers is still in Seattle on Lake City Wy. His nephew took over the business after he passed. Not sure how his work is, but it would be tough to screw up a bluing job. He might send it out anyway.

When all else fails...Check the yellow pages.

Oh...one other thing you could do is call Adventure Sports in Lynnwood. They do some things there, and could either advise you, or maybe they will do it. They are a good bunch in there, and for a small looking place. They have a great inventory. At the very least. You will have a good conversation.

I'll throw in second on the opinion of Adventure Sports in Lynnwood. This is my preferred shop. Not a big place at all but decent inventory and they can get pretty much anything you need. Good people working there.

Stan Baker’s shop is closed.  Rumor is there are some tax issues.  Many people including me have had problems with them.  Luckily I got my barrel back before the place closed (they had lost it).  I hear many people weren’t as lucky.

I have to give some big props to Bob Dites From sedro woolley.. He did the trigger job on my 06 and did the custom reloading  for my accelerator round tests... Since i'm a south paw he also found a hard to find bolt release for my LH rem 700. Good guy, great work, and reasonable prices... He never tried to up sell me to get all kinds of stuff done to my gun.. He just wanted to start with the simeple things one at a time until the groups improved... Dites@wavecable.com

Oh contraire!  With many of the alloys, bluing is much more science than the art it used to be. I'm unaware of any smiths in the NW that do their own hot bluing.   That said, since you've got 'rust', then you probably don't have alloy to deal with. I'm pretty sure Kesselrings sends out their bluing jobs. If you've got a pricy shottie, I'd send it back to the manufacturer. If you've got sweet oldie, then if you disassemble down to the reciever, then Doug Turnbull is where you'll get great service/bluing.
