Wind scorpions!  At least that is what they called them in Wyoming.  Looked just like that sucker, I've only seen one in WA - yes, I smashed it into goo, they give me heebie-jeebies!

Speaking of screaming like a girl, 20 years ago on Rarotonga I was showering when a centipede came out of the drain - about 7" long, 5/8" wide, 1/2 inch pincers - beat it to pudding while naked with a swim fin.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Ok, I have to step in here as an amature 'buggist', and a big fan of Solifugae, which is what these are. They are not really spiders, but have eight legs like spiders, and two elongated pedipalpe, which look like the front two legs, but are really more like 'feelers'. They are extreemly fast, and can jump fairly high for their size. The chelicerae, or mandables, operate independantly, and have one of the highest jaw strengths of any critter. They will attack, kill, and eat things many times their size. No stinger, do not attack humans, though people have thought they were because they will run along side of a human to stay in their shadow during the day. They are desert critters and vary in size up to about 10mm. They are so deadly cool! If you want more info, go here. http://www.solpugid.com/index.htm

Thanks for the info. Good to hear that they don't bite humans.

I should clarify, they WILL bite if threatened, same as any other critter. I guess what I find so amazing about them is they are so basic 'kill and eat' critters, and are so good at it. If they were six feet long I think humans and just about every other critter would be in big trouble.

They have been E-Wa, but you rarely see them. Same as real scorpions are there as well, but you don't see them either.
