Fire Loss Replacement??
« on: December 16, 2010, 05:46:38 PM »
I have a friend who just lost his home and everything in it to a fire. He had several deer mounts that obviously are irreplaceable but we were talking about replacement costs of things and it made me wonder about the possibility of replica mounts. Is it possible to do a replica mount if you have a picture of the original mount or at least give a cost on doing one so he could get a more fair amount from his insurance? Tks nwhunter

Ask Wastickslinger.  He is in the work.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

I do believe that it can be done. Pics of your fish is all you need for a replica to be made, so why not pics of your deer ? Correct me if im wrong....  :twocents:

I would think it could be done or at least give him a more appropriate dollar figure to compensate something that really can't ever be replaced rather than just here's $600 bucks since that is what it cost. Hard to imagine what it would be like to loose everything you have aquired over 50 plus years espeecially pics and horns/mounts. Thanks hopefully Charlie or some of the other guys in the biz will give their input. nwhunter

When was the fire ? and does your friend have a public insurance adjuster representing him? My good friend does that for a living and he handled my fire last december and I got a new home out of the deal instead of clean paint and seal.

Did all the antlers get burned up in the fire?

The house literally burned to the ground started in the attic and it had a shake roof so got hot quick and power was out so no water til the fire trucks got there. So ya his horns are gone. Hopefully his insurance will treat him fair. Thanks for the help here guys I am passing on the info. nwhunter
