Best duck shell under $15/box?
« on: December 15, 2010, 01:42:11 PM »
What’s the best cheap shell out there?

I haven’t found anything that outperforms the Win Xpert. or is cheaper.

When they're not sold out, you can by a case of BC 2 3/4"  3's at http://store.rogerssportinggoods.com/servlet/-strse-2638/federal%2C-federal-premium%2C-federal/Detail for $139 including shipping, or $14/box.  Can't beat that!

Estates are made by Federal.

Best deal around, 3" 1-1/4oz Federal Steel at Roger's for $99.99 shipped to your door.  Beats Kents, Xperts, and Remington.

I buy most of my shells after the season.  Last year I bought 3 cases at an average of about $5.50 a box.
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

I havent looked online for them. hate to give up my area. but dennis co. used to stock them and i would always stop by and pick up a couple boxes for $10 apiece. those things worked as good as any steel shot ive ever used under $20. 1 1/4 3"  #2 or BB , i ended up with a case of xperts im shooting this year. but i would trade those in a second for the estates

i'm having bad luck with sportsmans jamming in my gun.  i wouldn't think that'd be too odd in an auto but it's an 870! i see wally world has nitro steel for around $15 a box, i might have to try those.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I found the winchesters xpert steel at wal mart for 8.50 a box for 2 3/4 and maybe a dollar more for 3 inch, bought a box for me and two for my friend. But usually I just wait for the bi mart sales I rarely pay more than 12 bucks there.

I have my best luck with Kent Fasteel. Best and most consistant patterning load I've patterned. The 'blue box' Federals were some of the worst patterning of the factory loads I tried. Never tried the 'red box' Federals just because of the high price.
I know what this thread is about but price is unimportant if they pattern so bad that you have to shoot 2 or 3 more because they crippled rather than killed. The cheaper shells do not have the quality components in them like the more expensive shells do for the most part.
