I dont have time to read all the names right now... but my new pup is Gunner... and it was a toss up between that and Gauge...

I have been around a chit load of hunting dogs through the years, mostly big game hounds...

A friend of ours got two plott pups and their names were Boone and Crockett... I thought that was cool.

My favorite dog of all time was a big red tick mix named Sylvester. My first hound was Wilma... her pup I kept was Classy... I named my next dog "Bo" circa late 80's when Bo Jackson was kicking ass.... another pup was Oscar (he is 13 now and still doing great)...named after Oscar De La Hoya....

We've had:  Cleo, Homer, Joker, Davy, Sean, Cody, Harold, Babe, Molly, Big Sky, Leroy, Honey, Duncan, Sugar, Sam, Grizzly, Lady, Houdini, Marty, Ike, Minnie.....

Hunted with some guys that had Fee-fee and Suzie...they were sisters to Sylvester. The 3 of them together were unstoppable on a bear....

Geesh... there were more... I need to write them all down someday.... Oh yeah, Duke....

And my old lab was Kalispell.....

Fred - "whisper" has to be my favorite name for a hound that I have ever heard.  Prior to that, my buddy had one named "froggy" after the kid in little rascals.
I agree.  I have a black and tan named Whisper...she's a mouthy little dog!!

Echo & Caddis- border collies
Tana- cur
Scooby- hound

I've also hunted over some other hounds Rattle, Jake, Hooker, Red, Pepper, Buzz, and Buckshot
Also have a Mule named Mandoline

my old dogs name was dog

A friend of mine was an extension Forester that had extensive contacts with Russian Foresters.  He was so taken with the Russian word for "DOG"  that he named his dog "COBAKA".

So the Russian Foresters come over and ask him what his dog's name is.  He answer's COBAKA and then Russian Forester says "yes, I know that, but what is his name?".  Soon they are off on a Abbot and Costello routine about who's on first.

Well, about a year later we are over in Siberia.  He asks the Russian Forester the name of his dog.  The Russian Forester answers "DOG".  My friend doesn't catch on and says "Yes, I know that, but what is his name".  And off to the races they went.....I could not stop laughing.

All my dogs are named after places in the Canadian Rockies.

So there was Jasper, Takkawwa, Yoho and currently we are on Bugaboo.  Next dog will be either Sicamoose or Assissibone.

chocolate lab is Brodie (registered as "Chief Martin Brodie" from the movie "Jaws")  American Eskimoe is Lucy (a.k.a. The White Devil)

hounds are on the left Scrap (he was the outcast of the litter...crazy light colored eyes would glow red in the dark) and on the right Sparky (previously named Ugly...dam hound would sit, shake and roll over on command)

best lab I ever had was a chocolate named Gator

other hound names were  Zeb, Duke, Maddie, Hoss

A German Shepherd named Garth.  Anytime that dog heard the radio, you couldn't shut him up unless you turned off the music.  He would even sit by the radio or go nudge it as if he wanted it on so he could sing along.

It won't be for a hunting dog but when I get my next puppy (red or blue heeler) I'm going to name him Sam after Sam Elliot.
