I found the winchesters xpert steel at wal mart for 8.50 a box for 2 3/4 and maybe a dollar more for 3 inch, bought a box for me and two for my friend. But usually I just wait for the bi mart sales I rarely pay more than 12 bucks there.

I buy most of my shells after the season.  Last year I bought 3 cases at an average of about $5.50 a box.
At rogers? I gotta get in on that

the cheapest thats takes down ducks i believe is kents i did work with them shells but i got 3" 3 shot and got 2 in one shot dropped 4 though

I have my best luck with Kent Fasteel. Best and most consistant patterning load I've patterned. The 'blue box' Federals were some of the worst patterning of the factory loads I tried. Never tried the 'red box' Federals just because of the high price.
I know what this thread is about but price is unimportant if they pattern so bad that you have to shoot 2 or 3 more because they crippled rather than killed. The cheaper shells do not have the quality components in them like the more expensive shells do for the most part.

I 3inch #2s with a mod choke seem to work the best out of my 870  i use them on wigeons to honkers

That is what i use most of the time .Every once in a while i use #4's.
