Which gun to choose?

It's kind of a chevy vs ford thing.  I like mossbergs and have only used them for waterfowl.  I did pick up one of those remington/baikal autoloaders last year.  Still breaking it at the range.  Can't say I'm dissapointed yet.  I'll be picking up a 935 when i find the right deal.  7 years and my 835 hasn't let me down.  I don't think you could go wrong with the 870 or 935.  Plus with the 935 you are shooting a 10 guage barrel.

I bought a new Remington 870 Express last year and it was a total POS.

Ive got an older 870.....never had a problem.  Just take a towel, wipe off the excess water and mud after your hunt, and throw it in the back seat of the truck.  Gun is SOLID

I too wish they would make the 870 as good as they used to! Mine is 23 years in my possesion and works great! If it could talk the stories it could tell would keep us all entertained for quite some time  I don't understand why they can't atleast make the finish like they used to  I got a superX2 a couple years ago and I hate taking it hunting for simple fact that everytime you touch the barrel on a object I swear it scratches the matte finish and I HATE IT! I try to keep my guns looking nice.

I'd go for the 870 between me and my dad we have 4 new express (all purchased within the last year) and we haven't had a single problem with them.

Ive had my Rem 870 supermag 2 years..put probly 1,000 trap loads through it...lots of 3.5 through it to try and cause a problem and never found any reason to take anything else into the field...Also, I have shot 2 3/4 - 3inch in steel and about every brand and also never had any issue's..just a thought.. alot of guys are goin to the semi's for waterfowl tho..

I bought a 870 3" last year and it has been a really great gun!  I take it on the days when I dont want to beat the crap out of my browning and I am happy I bought it, an impressive shooter too.

Always been an 870 available for me. I've got an older one that looks like you just pulled the plastic wrap off. Never a problem with it. (ok.. broke a firing pin once. Big deal) Both of my boys have 870 Expresses. Flawless function. Eldest shot his for the last two seasons for high school/ FFA trap without issue. (bought it used from Jackalope)

The older 870's are great guns but the new ones not so much.

 

I have owned several 870's and recently bought a 3.5" 870 that will not cycle correctly. Winchester sx3 will be my next gun.

I had an 870 Super Mag and had the same trouble. Constantly jammng. Sold it.

I've got a 20 year old 870 express with a paintjob so it doesn't rust, never missed a shell.  I also have a Benelli SBE that is a jamm'in SOB, Sometimes it is the most expensive single shot I have ever bought! Go green.

I love my 11-87 ...its a tank though, made for shooting bigger shells, when it was new it didnt like to shoot the really low end lo velocity trap loads, but now it shoots them just fine , have had it for 8 years never had a problem yet this season...

Have and older wingmaster and its far supior than my express. The express has a real POS finish on it rusts everytime you touch it i just leave mine now i think of it as camo lol otherwise no issue.
