Where are the birds?

WERE is all the birds at on public land? planning on going this week around e burg, mainley targeting phesants and ducks?

There aren't any on public land around Ellensburg. For ducks, try the Columbia River. If you want pheasants you need to go further east. You could try for chukar on the breaks of the Columbia, north of Vantage.

spent a few days in yakima looking for birds and it wasnt good at all. yesterday guys just poured in from every where too

Since the extreme cold around Thanksgiving I haven't seen many birds.  Saw 6 pheasant hens near a cattle feeder and about 6 quail in downtown Lewiston.  Other than that sighting have been slim.

well, i limited in ten mins yesterday, no lie. quickest ive ever done it. went today and shot a handful more, not quite as good as yesterday, but still good. if i gave you my spot, might not walk out with everything attached. internet scouters, gotta love em. fyi, scout the few weeks after the season. best time to see where the birds are for the next year... gl

DUcks I am assuming... Not too hard to limit out in Eburg if you have good private land or a good spot on the river. Nice job

Went to the "Feel Free to Hunt" areas in Toppenish on Saturday with two of my boys.  Hunted the Pumphouse Unit and never saw a quail and only bumped 2 pheasants about 70 yards out when we shot at a passing duck.  Lots of bunny tracks through the snow through all the sage brush, but never put eyes on any.

I could do that as well and in 2-3 minutes, but the dog and Wife get mad when I start shooting in the pens

Yes, but the place we have for phesants holds an ungodly amount of them, I'm talking like South Dakota kind of stuff. Its the only place I have seen that has any population of phesants in the valley, I mean there are a few here and there, but this is the hotspot.

Well, then you sir have found a spot that I can only dream of! Ellensburg has no spots like that anymore. I'm sure that there are hotspots in yakima county and down in the southeast part of the state.

A buddy of mine hit 2 roosters in the canyon after the big snow. Must be a lot in there on the private land.
