Not drawing what?  :dunno:

I'm sure there are LOTS of people who have that many points and haven't drawn anything. It's all in what you apply for. If somebody only applies for the most popular one or two elk permits then chances are they will NEVER draw. Washington doesn't have a preference point system like some states, where those with the most points get drawn first. Why do you ask?

I fill out all 4 choices and have never drawn.  I know people who have drawn with 1-5 several times.  I know we do it on a squared system so my name should go in 122 times.  Its pretty frustrating.

you are putting on for primo hunts. if you put in for not-so-choice hunts, you'd probably draw more often.

OK, but what are your four choices?

Try a cow hunt for your 4th choice and I bet you'll draw.  ;)

You are not the only one with 10+ points. There are thousands of guys including myself that will be going into the drawings with 100 names each. Every year I think that "this will be the year for the bull tag", but it has yet to happen. I do understand your frustration, but ya gotta keep on trying.I wish they would go back to only one choice for the special hunts. It would definately keep people in the areas they really want to hunt. By the way, I think this is the year for my big bull tag! Good luck to all.

I am thinking you need to reset your points by putting in for one of the easier permits or cow tag then the next year you will be drawn for a bull tag!!

You are putting in for some of the hardest to draw hunts.  Throw Naches in there and you'd have 21 points.  Lots of folks have 11.  Now to top it all off, many have an extra 10 more because of turning in poacheers.  That really throws your chances when indeed they may have 21 points.  I've drawn elk ONCE since this has started and haven't drawn deer YET.

My hunting buddy has been putting in ever since the point system started and has never drawn a tag, but he draws tags for Montana and Wyoming about every other year. He only puts in for the choice tags.

I've drawn a good bull tag for eastern archery each time I reached 3 points. (twice) I didn't realize how lucky that was until I read this subject. I just assumed everyone drew every three years. This year I will have my 3 points, we'll see.

My dad has 11 points and hasn't drawn a tag either... Although he has just been getting point options the past few years because there is no where he want's to put in for on the westside...  This year is a different story however!!  haha so there's another one to help out your draw odds...

Dreamingbig, my wife drew a modern permit with 2 points, and I think I drew my first and only elk tag with 4, so there is always hope.

I would think that with 11 points you'd stand an excellent chance at one of the premiere units.  I only bowhunt, so that helps the draw odds quite a bit; I've got 3 points built up and hope to get a Wenaha tag soon.  I drew a cow tag a few years ago and ate a couple points there, but it was worth it.  I don't think I'd want to give up 11 years of applications for a cow tag, though.  Keep aiming for the stars with all those points, and you'll be able to shoot something that makes the wait worthwhile.

I have 10 or 12 friends with 10-12pts and they all apply for archery, can't seem to draw. there'll be another 60 tags total in the blues this year so the odds are getting a little better. heck, maybe I'll get one with my 3 pts???

I figured with all the cow permits last year it was going to be easier to draw... Nope.
Brother in law and i both at 10.
I drew a cow tag in 94 in lewis river, and a doe tag i didn't mean to put in for in 2003. But other than that nada. Unless you count fake drawings.

BC this ought to make you feel better ... A friend of mine came up empty last year with 17 points! he has put in for seven years and turned in a poacher for the other ten. He has been putting in for Blue mt. units and he was asking me allot about my Peaches tag I had last year, I told him to stop thinking about it and continue putting in for the blues! I drew Peaches muzzleloader last year with 10.

You should be getting close, I drew my elk tag with 9 points I believe. Luck is also a factor in it as there always seems to be people who draw premium tags with minimal points.

if you what a good bull don"t waste your points on a cow,  keep puttin in, you will get drawed for one.        I drawed one with 4 or 5 points once, didn"t fill my tag but hunted all but 2 days of the season , but i had a blast hunting elk!

Awsome bull mray! ive never shot an elk before. i never had much interest in them until i bow hunted for them in montana last year. i had a BIG bull at 80yrds for over an hour and drew on him once.  he blew our ear drums out that was pretty cool.  once i draw my rifle tag i will never rifle hunt this state again.

In the last 10 years I have drawn 2 Observotory archery bull tags. 1 modern Firing Center deer tag. And 1 Chiwawa modern deer tag. They have all been great hunts but no top end animals were taken. All my best trophys have been taken in general seasons. I have a pal who drew the Desert A tag with 1 point but could not draw a Manastash modern elk tag with 12. Go figure, you just never know you just got to play because there are some great hunts out there to be had!

BC,

I feel your's and everyone elses pain.  I have 15 preference points in Colorado.  Here's the problem:  The unit I want to hunt (201) requires 18 this year.  You'd think, only 3 more years!  NOT.  The points required for drawing have have been incrementing every year and I have been 3 behind fo about 6 or 7 years now.  When I first started putting in, you only needed 8.  I may never have enough in my lifetime to draw that tag.

In WA here, I've been putting in for a Naches cow tag (first choice) for 4 or 5 years now and are yet to draw.  Now I'm to the point where I don't want to waste them and will start to put in for the early season Bull tag.  With my luck, I may never draw that one either.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Personally I think its luck
I have been drawn for the AHE Margaret hunt, the Toutle and Peaches and scored in them all, also a late whitetail in the Methow/Okanagon

Not to frustrate you any more, but i drew the archery desert tag with 0 points.  Goes to show you that it is a flopped system that sometimes rewadrs the wrong individuals.  Dont waste those points man, I have 9 elk points and i put in for the same single choice every year.  I will put in for that unit forever.  Someday Maybe, Hopefully, if I am lucky I will Draw
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'
