Early droppers
« on: December 22, 2010, 01:34:27 PM »
Seen some really nice Whitey sheds already. Is that normal for NE wash? I've seen the mulies here in the basin still packing in late MARCH early APRIL. :dunno:

I have seen whitetail with antlers in April...but that is the exception. I always see WT shedding this time of year but I do think a larger perecentage of them seem to be dropping than I have seen in years past....personal observation..nothing scientific about it. I see most of them shed in Jan/Feb.

Wasn't there a big whitetail on here recently that got killed then popped one side off when the guy got to it?

Yes, I heard of two cases of antlers falling off draging bucks out.  I love sheds but not that kind

not uncommon around here to arrow a big buck in the last few days of the archery season to have antlers popping off, I have shot 3 bucks in the past years Dec 13-15th and 2 of them have lost sides
