I have been hunting the Columbia river around the Wenatchee area and  have had great luck. But here in the last couple weeks I have gone from limiting out to watch 10,000 duck flight by at 80 to 100 yards away. All I can figure out at this point is either I need to bring a rifle next time, or learn to swim and shoot. The worst part about it is I have killed more duck standing in my decoys then I have in the blind. Any ideas on what I can try to get them to come in? I haven't been setting in the same area  or hunting the same place more than twice.

need more motion in the decoys.... Went hunting in a puddle last week and we shot more when i was standing in the water... more ripples in the water... Better have a jerk cord or 2
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Welcome to the site. We have hunted the river a few times this year. It has been pretty slow for us as well. Motion could be the ticket. Also try a diffrent spread, maybe less decoys as well.

NWwildman...I am experiencing the same exact thing...but i think i found the solution.. a Whipsplash decoy...jerk-string decoy on a post with wings that spin when pulling the cord... has been even pulling in the high-first 1-2 minute of shooting hour flyers...good luck, let me know if you find anything else that works! im going to even try to get to places that dont get hunted often...

Motion shouldnt be an issue in the river. Dont worry we have noticed the same thing. Its called education. The ducks are getting smarter therefore you need to get as smart as the ducks... like the rest of us.  :bash:

Create a spread of goose floaters and a "few" ducks sprinkled around (off of the geese) for effect.

It will kill wary ducks-
