Meprolight Sights - Any opinions?

I am considering putting these sights on my Colt Commander.  I don't know of anyone that has used them, but I like their look.  Does anyone have any experience with these sights?

Big and bright, makes the front sight real easy to pick up in low/no light but they will be noticeably brighter all the way to bright sunlight.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

They're pretty sweet.

But on a Colt Commander 1911 the front sight needs to be staked in. There also needs to be a flat in the slide for that one, which may require some machining and the staking by a gunsmith, which you'll pay labor for. If I really wanted this site, I'd have a Kimber dovetail cut for the front sight then install the sights myself. -The old way to do it would be with a plastic or brass punch. The correct way would be with a site pusher.

I don't knock the Meprolights at all but, You might take a look for a Crimson trace laser grip that will give you what you're looking for in a night sight, and be transferable to a different 1911 if you decide to sell that one. The Crimson will cost a little more but maybe not much more once you factor some gunsmith fees.
