Crabbers and their Trash

I hunt the Nisqually often and launch from the Luhr Beach launch and am really getting sick of the trash left by the many crabbers that use this launch during the winter. They clean their crabs right there at the launch, leaving all the shells covering the boat launch and the little beach there is at a mid tide. Beaching your boat prior to hunting or coming back in, you have to step on crab guts and crab shells. They're thick and getting thicker. The gulls of course, make it even worse as they eat the remains when the tide allows.
How would those same a$$hole crabbers like to launch their boats in duck/goose guts and carcasses? I do not see anyone cleaning their waterfowl there and that's a good thing and I"m not suggesting we do but I'll bet they wouldn't like it. I don't understand some people. Purely selfish.

What i hate the most is that wyhauser is starting to open up its land this year and sure as s%$t just like clock work up pops a couch and tons of garbage. All things that could of been burned. Don't get me wrong burning garbage is just as wrong but its better than dumping it on a timber company's land.

They would probably like it if duck carcasses were thrown in the area.  I remember crabbers used to like fish cleaning stations because the carcasses attracted more crabs.  But I agree, EVERYONE should pack out all their trash or put the biological? stuff in areas that are not troublesome.  Those seagulls are nasty.  Some people just don't think much about who will come next....like when the giant off road truck leaves the car wash and there is 4 inches of mud in the stall....and the small car that is next will get dirtier than when it arrived.

elkslayer069, just curious...but why are you thinking that burning garbage (non-recyclable stuff) is wrong?  I've always been under the impression that it is the best way to get rid of trash.

Only the type that could get you in trouble  

Been seeing more and more along the roads into the timber properties, and occasionally come across entire bags which have been taken down trails then tossed. Its nasty, no wonder these property owners are getting more wary of giving people access. No one wants to take the family for a backwoods hike and step in soiled diapers and beer cans

Should be the same in all hunting/fishing areas, common sense and respect for the other people who use it

Just the select few ruining things for everyone else as usual I suppose

Not sure why they are cleaning their crabs right there as the  buyers I have seen only buy live crab.  I am not a commercial crabber but have a few neighbors who are.

Not to get into a peeing match, as I also duck hunt, but when will the shotgun shell manufacturers start making wads that are biodegradeable.  There are a hundred or more that we pick up off the beaches here in the spring, and noone duck hunts on the shores of this little island.....  Plus we get a lot of hulls here as well.

As far as burning garbage here in San Juan County - illegal!  You can bury all of it you want on your property but heaven forbid you burn the paper/cardboard non-plastic stuff.....

I didn't say they were commercial crabbers. I can only assume that they're weekend crabbers. Joe Blow outdoorsmen just like us. I feel the same way about cleaning fish at the launch. I see a lot of walleye remains at many of the Potholes Res boat launches in the spring. Fish carcasses all around the launches in a foot of water do not buy fishermen as a whole any credibility. It makes us all look like slobs.

Yes, WAY too many punks leaving LOTS of trash out in the woods !  Set up camp for a week and leave a week's worth of ALL their trash behind, soiled diapers... used toilet paper along with their own piles... food containers clothing... no one wants to look at that.

That is why I launch at Zittles and run the extra couple of miles.  You also don't have to put up with as many idiots blocking the ramp.  I might be wrong but I believe that it is illegal to clean any fish/shellfish on or around boat ramps.  At least state owned ramps.

Zittle's Marina off of Johnson Point Rd.  In Olympia, take South Bay Rd North.  It turns into Johnson Point Rd.  Take it until you get to 92nd Ave NE and hang a right.  You can't miss the signs.  It is on Gallea ST NE.  The launch fee is something like $10 but it is better, IMO than John Luhr.

Ahhh! 

My chickens love eating the guts out of the shells when I cook them whole.  I have discovered the legs keep longer in the fridge when cooked after cleaning the crab though. 

These people that leave fish and crab guts, and deer carcasses around the ramps are simply lazy f'ing pigs.  If it is not illegal to do this for its own sake, they could probably be ticketed for littering if nothing else....
