My buddy has one in .223 with the bull barrel. he put a SS 16x and a new stock on it. He has been shooting clays at 720 yards with it. I've shot it a few times. its nice. .223 with the bull barrel, it never heats up. great at the range. [/quote/) I have a Remington 700 SPS Varmint 223rem. too. Love the gun. Very accurate and like you said barrel never really heats up. You can shoot and shoot.
out goofing off in the woods hunting my CDL is always nicer but whenever we have shooting races at the range my Stainless fluted .223 always needs a break. IF i were to do it different i would have gotten a tikka .223 because of the tighter rate of twist. If i go over 55 grainers with mine they go haiwire
