Anyone know this species of owl?

Ive caught glimpses of an owl that lives in a couple dead snags in my backyard. Today when I got home I caught a glimpse of a big bird flying out of my lawn. I grabbed my camera and caught this guy up in one of the dead trees. It was getting dark so I did my best free handing. When I decided to go in to get a tripod, he was gone when I came back out. Anyway, curious what kind of owl he is. Pretty sure its the same specie that ate my cat a few years back

BARRED OWL.

spotted owls are dark and barred throughout, especially notable on the chest.   BARRED owls are more buff or lighter in color on their bodies and have vertical stripes or markings on their bodies.

Better not kill the barred owls they are my friends *censored* ....stupid people think its ok to go around killin stuff for some environmentalists pet ...pretty sure wolves and sealions kill spotted owls off them first

I believe it's a Barred owl.
