Any good taxidermists in or around SW Washington?
« on: December 29, 2010, 07:30:02 PM »
Just scrounged up some extra money and now I'm on the hunt for a good taxidermist.  Got a big blackie I'd like to put on the wall.  Anybody got any good leads for the Vancouver area?

I do not know anyone in the Vancouver area.  :dunno:

I am just up the road from you in Rochester.  Exit 88.  I'd be happy to do that Bear for you.

I sent you a PM.  :)

Hey Michelle,  I'm thinking by "blackie" he's talking about the blacktail deer he got during his late muzzleloader permit hunt.   :dunno:

Yeah, I did mean blacktail, but not the one I got this year.

Incidentally, I do have a blackbear I got in Idaho this year that I'm looking at getting done too.   :)

Oh, how about a picture of the blacktail you're getting done?

Yeah I thought he was talking about his Bear he shot in Idaho.  I didn't see any pictures of the Blacktail he shot.  Looks like I need to ask when people say Blackie.  :chuckle:

Either way I could do both for you.  :)

And this is the blacktail I got this year.  Not too bad, but not exactly worth doing a full shoulder mount.  I'm going to plaque the antlers, though.

That's really strange.  I had his business card from a past sportsman's show, but the website didn't work and the phone number was deactivated.  Then I heard from someone that he had left town.

???

Longstevo,

Take a look at Rocky River Taxidermy   rockyrivertaxidermy.com   360-907-1681
He's located in Vancouver.  He's done a couple plaques for me that have turned out great, and I've seen some of his other work, bear rug and deer shoulder mount, that looked amazing.  Great attention to detail.  He also helped me out by fixing my dad's bear rug that another taxidermist had made a disgrace of.
