i know were all the ducks are
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:18:24 PM »
just found out today that all these ducks that are suppost to be down here in the skagit valley and around washington are in bc canada. the spuds up there got a disease and they harvested them and know thousands of acres of spuds that millions of ducks are just eating i dont think they have a reason to come down and probly wont. those guys up there are shooting a limit in 5 mins standing out there in there jeans  :bash:

so this is the best hunting might get hopefully not bc im a duckaholic and need to feed my addiction a little better  :chuckle:

Ok, I'll bite... being that I'm a noob to waterfowl hunting.  Ducks and taters?  Are we talking the above ground folliage, or are they rootin' for the actual spuds?  I've never even considered the visual of a duck eatin' a raw baker.   :dunno:

yes as i understand from the guys from there they are on the ground they ran the spuds through the harvester and then they just put them right back on the ground because of the disease they had. ducks and geese love spuds after it freezes and then they thaw makes them like mush and ducks and geese love them

The sky was filthy with widgeon and pintail around Auburn yesterday.  The pond by the race track was full of them.  There were so many birds in the air I thought they were blackbirds at first.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

A buddy of mine talked to a game warden 2 days ago and asked him where the birds were this year. He said they have been doing aerial surveys and there are only about 80,000 ducks around skagit and snohomish counties right now and usually this time of year he said there is 400,000 ducks in the area. He said the ducks and geese are hold up on the Frasier in Canada right now, said its been to warm and they have no reason to migrate this way yet. Hopefully this cold front we are having will bring some birds down with it.

I was doing some touch up on a blind tonight and could have shot my limit if I had brought my shotgun...this was in tri-cities in E. Wa...well south of BC.

I believe you boys are hammering them on the eastside. as long as you have a food source to offer them. You don't have the problem we have over here on the westside with the huge boddies of water.
