Porkie is awesome eating. Cook like rabbit. They are definitely a pain to skin. 25 pounds is a darn big one.

If they get close enough you will feel them breathing on your neck.
I was always told that you shouldn't kill a porcupine unless you absolutely had to because in a survival situation, they are one of the easiest animals to kill with a rock or club...But nice job anyways. We got a sweet skinned porcupine at a yardsale about 10 years ago. They look really cool as a rug type mount.
I've heard that what a lot of times I thought was bear damage it was porkies. We saw a huge one in Kapowsin a while back. It was in the road and we had to chase it out of the way I didn't know you could eat them. Good to know. Looks like fun keep it up.
Well I guess Im not a fan of porcupine. It has a very unique flavor and a bit of an odor that I am just not liking. Oh well maybe it was my cooking but it is the same recipe I use for venison and that always turns out good. Got to try everything once I guess. Maybe the dogs will like it.
