New Year's Eve / New Year's Day hunt
« on: January 02, 2011, 09:50:56 PM »
New Year's Eve morning, my buddy who I met on this site, John, (johng) and I drove over to E. Wa and met up with my brother, Tye, (Tyler_and_Henry), to do some upland bird hunting. It was two days of tough hunting, especially without Tye's dog, Henry, (out of commission for a while with a leg injury.) We eventually got into some birds and had a great time. All the walking paid off. I got a really nice looking pheasant, and we all took some quail. We chased rabbits around, shot at one and missed. Got into some chukars. Climbed around looking for them. Never did get a shot. Still had fun watching them run up the rocks. The weather was chilly but beautiful. New Year's Eve, we spent at Tye's place where his wonderful wife cooked up a feast which included quail in pear sauce and lamb roast wrapped in bacon, topped with apricot glaze! We played games on their new Wii, (such as Cabela's Big Game Hunter,) with the kids. It was a really fun, (and exhausting!) couple of days.
Many thanks to Tye and his wife, Julie, for entertaining us. I'm hoping to find time to do it again this season.
 Here are few pics...
