Rimrock Meadows
« on: January 03, 2011, 03:32:06 PM »
I just bought some property over in Rimrock Meadows just outside of Ephrata.  Anybody know how the deer hunting is over there.  Property butts up to state land over there just haven't had a lot of time to get out and check it out much.

We have owned property there for about 12 years now. Have always been interested in hunting there but never have.

Yes there are deer in the big canyon...along with cats. A few cats actually. Watch your backside or you might become a snack.  ;)

Grew up in Quincy and hunted it alot. Even killed a few deer. That was twenty five years ago though.

"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?

I worked with a guy that lived in Ephrata and he told me the hunting was great over there.  Whether he was telling the truth or not is questionable, but I'd give it a shot.

The deer anywhere around rimrock meadows are tough to chew on and they taste bad, really bad, better off hunting blacktail west of the cascade crest. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

And you can"t believe the people that live around Ephrata, they lie!! :chuckle: :chuckle:

Swatson, actually there are a few real nice deer in the area, they do get hunted real hard during the modern season, and the Nature Conservancy controls a very large chunk of the huntable land, however my understanding is that they have a program, that if you help the Nature Conservancy, with some of their projects, you can then gain permission to hunt their land. have never checked into it but I work with some that work a weekend or a day and then are allowed to hunt, and Welcome to the Dry side!! :hello:

I scout all that area during the summer.Seen some real nice deer in there in the summer mouths but when the archers get in there they push most of the deer on to the nature conservancy property and surrounding private property. I seen 3 really good bucks on some private land that I horn hunt on last week. If you have any questions give me a pm. I live 15 min from there.

Thanks again guys.  I have heard about the nature conservatory thing and how if you volunteer they'll grant you access.  I plan on checking into that!

I'm involved in the nature conservancy hunting program out there, but haven't done it for three years. Supposedly they are not allowing anymore people to get into it. :dunno:

That's what I herd to e-town. Few years ago they were really holding back on how many people they let hunt.
