JIMKD8 ... I sent a PM, thanks for the help.

BLUEBULLS ...  Probably an easy to medium hunt.  I can still do the hard steep stuff, but pretty much shot for the rest of the day after an hour of climbing.  It sucks getting old...

I used to live in Clarkston during the early to mid 80's and hunted a lot of the Mt. View, Lick Creek, Peola, Couse and Grand Ronde units.  I was thinking I might explore around the Wenaha unit, thinking lots of permits must equal lots of bears.
"A peculiar virtue in wildlife ethics is that the hunter ordinarily has no gallery to applaud or disapprove of his conduct.  Whatever his acts, they are dictated by his own conscience, rather than that of onlookers.  It is difficult to exaggerate the importance of this fact"

The best thing about the spring bear permit drawing is they have results in a timely manner. Come on North Skagit!!!

wenaha is a physical hunt, low success rate due to people not wanting to put in the effort. there are planty of bears but you usually have to work pretty hard. Blue creek would be a great hunt if you can access some good land.

I ended up applying for Lincoln, largely because it's local.

I will be applying for Lincoln again, seeings as to how there was very little pressure, due to Weyerhaeuser's access restrictions.
And I only saw a few other people hunting in unit, and only on weekends.
I heard of nobody filling their tag, and harvest reports (probably liars) show a small harvest in the last couple years.
Due to the unpopularity of the WDFW/Weyerhaeuser policy and lack of cooperation, I hope there are very few applicants, and I will be successful in drawing with 0 points.
It is near my home, and there is an old Tom Turkey that lives in a little drainage I like to hunt, along with a bear coming through occasionally......

I hunted lincoln last year and had pretty good luck finding a bear. I bumped into a weyerhaeuser police officer and he told me exactly where he had last scene one.

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment in that unit.

Got any pictures? We'd love to see them.

if you look close, you will see that these are 2 different bears, I actually beleive there were 3, a sow, a 2 year old cub, and a big boar coming through my little trail crossing.
