Gah! I may change my mind and switch this later... but here's my entry:

I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Sorry to hijack.

Do you have any other photos of this animal and location detail? The head and body pictured look like the endangered fisher, but the weasal can be easily misidentified as a fisher. I really need to see the whole body including tail to be sure.

The fisher is generally not found in open spaces and unlike it's name doesn't use fish to meet its general dietary needs.

Thanks!

Here's a blog entry about the fisher;

We took that picture along the Columbia R. last spring.  There were two of those critters and I am fairly certain they are Minks... Hirshey has several other pictures but that is the cutest one.  If you want I can send you some others.

Hard to pick. These guys took 30+ minutes to slowly work their way to within 50 feet of me sitting just outside of my tent.  Leffingwell Fork of the Achilik. These are too old, just saw that. oh well still like'em

This is one of my favorites from the past year. We watched this guy enter the lake, swim around, exit, walk back up on the hill and start foraging for at least 30 minutes. It was really cool, especially considering that all the other boats (a Saturday in August on Lake Roosevelt) just kept flying by and never even noticed him.

Though about those. The Caribou seemed kinda generic compared to the Sheep. Especially since they covered 400+ yards moving down slope on their "stalk" to come check me out.. :chuckle:

They got to about 50 feet eyeing me and grazing, acting like they didn't care much..when they weren't looking I slid into my tent out of view. When the older one looked up and couldn't see me he kinda freaked.  I went around the whole time head to toe in black fleece. Griz, Wolverine, Caribou and Sheep must of all been wondering what that fat thing was.  I scared the bear and wolverine most.  Well the Griz caught me peeing so maybe he was  just embarrassed... :chuckle:
