Reccomendations on good chest waders

Well I am sick of standing in the columbia all day in 20 degree windy weather while wearing my paper thin  hip waders and 7 layers of shirts. Time to invest in some good chest waders. I am looking at cabelas online and they have a ton to choose from. I don't know if I should get cabelas brand or try something else. They have a brand called "Frog Toggs" on sale. The cabelas 1000 thinsulate "brush buster" are also on sale...


Any comments or reccomendations? Nothing over $200 please. Thanks

Just a thought, but Hodgeman is selling all of their stuff on their website super cheap, i believe they were bought out by another company, anyways, I got a back-up pair of 1,000 gram thinsulate camo chestwaders that have a zipper..doesnt leak, they are warm, double kneed, very good deal...if they still have them..they were regularly 250 and I got them for around 70..good luck..my primary pair are Drake.

I have a set of light weight frog togg's that I really like, I've had varying thicknesses of neoprene waders and a set of cordura Remington waders. I hope I never have to put on another set of neoprene waders again!

Was for 4 years..lol...graduated, now in Wenatchee....i think they had those waders in the clearance part of the site...

I'm looking at them now. Can u go into more detail about them? I'm worried about that zipper. You say they don't leak but have you worn them in water a lot or just going by the description? They seam to be on a super sale, thats for sure.

After 10 years of using cabelas brush busters, I finally switched to the cabelas 1600 neopreme waters and although I have only been out twice, I love em so far very warm and comfortable

Ive worn them probly 15 days this winter...im pretty short so setting out the decoys ive been almost up to my armpits, so for me I have not had one leak. I will tell you the zipper can be fairly temperamental. for me it was stuck up for a bit until I got a better grip with a plier and it zips right up and down without a problem..im guessing that it is harder than most zippers because it is soo heavy duty to prevent water seepage.... I put a lil bit of WD40 on the zipper also to make it smoother, didnt need to by any means, but it did help a lil bit..other than that they are warm, comfortable..they have extra padding on the knees which is comfortable when kneeling. a deep pocket with velcro on each side of the zipper and hand pockets under them..I never use the hand pockets because they are always wet and cold due to wading to put out decoys..any other questions let me know!  i do like them, i was concerned about the zipper as well, but for the price they are a great wader in my opinion.

Thanks a lot man. You really did answer most of my questions. I wonder why they are so cheap. This pair is about half as much as the others. With the money I am saving, I can buy some other crap that I don't need! I am really going to consider these.

you can't beat the return policy on cabelas waders. that alone is enough for me to go with them.

if you haven't returned a pair in a while, you'll be in for a shock if you try to use the "satisfaction guaranteed" lifetime warranty.  it's only good if you've got the receipt, and only good for something like 1 year on waders now.  i wouldn't spend the cash on their expensive offerings any more, because they don't really stand behind the product like they used to.

i've got a pair of drake LSTs, and really like them.  the shoulder straps must have been designed by someone dyslexic, because they loop under themselves and secure from underneath instead of over the top like most.  however you'd have to be insane to pay full price, i got them for around $100 new in the cabelas bargain cave

I bought the Cabelas brand 1600 supermags last year, has to be one of the best investments i've ever made. They are not only warm but durable and comfy.
