Here is the video of the cat I got today. Traps had been set for 19 days. Remember when trapping cats Patience is a virtue 8)

What do you meam by shingle?
That has to get you excited to walk up and find the trap filled.

That has to get you excited to walk up and find the trap filled.

Here is a picture with a shingle on the pan and the trap is exposed. It is a cubby. The cat was caught in a walk through set with the same set up as the cubby picture.

you really fence your sets close in and with heavy material, reason for that? I have always used smaller pencil size material and put the about 6" farther back and more a cirlcle. all preference I guess. One positive I can see about being so close and using larger sticks is it would keep bunnies out.

Do you always use 4's??? I do on lynx but when I trapped bobcat I used #3 Northwoods coils. I'm assuming a gap.

Great cat, beautiful fur.

The double longsprings won't freeze down like the levers on coilsprings. I like the #4s for the bigger jaw spread. As for the fencing I really block them so the only place to step is on the shingle and the bigger sticks makes it for sure they won't step over the whole trap.

Totally understand, I sent to the double longsprings in AK for the same reason, I use heavy fencing like that for lynx but thats to keep the bunnies out. Have a great season, I may try that with the shingle.

The shingle works really good. I cut the shingle the size I won't and then cut a piece of black nylon sreen the same size as the shingle and staple the sreen on the bottom side of the shingle. Works really well.
