A better statement would be everyone should have materials and or the know how of how to construct a snare for emergency survival scenarios. I'm thinking packing around a snare could you get you in some trouble with the law should a gamie search the contents of your pack for one reason or another. my
hmm. so legal to possess but not to deploy? thats good to know and could save u a hell of a headache if you do find yourself in the situation where they are needed.
As everyone else has said, body gripping traps are illegal in this state. This same law also applies to moles, those highly effective scissor traps are illegal. WDFW makes a couple cases every year for people using snares or other body gripping traps for coyotes. And it is correct, totally legal to own/posses the trap, but illegal to use. Kind of like how you can possess a barbed hook in the saltwater but can't use it.
