Here is some info I found that shows the possibility of having really dense cougar populations.

Want the truth. Call the WDFW in Ephrata and find out. I do not believe this at all. It's just like the guy that killed that HUGE cougar near Stevens Pass, not true.

i have a friend that lives really close to where this photo was supossedly taken he says he saw it before it hit the net, i know that there are cougars in the palisades ive seen trail cam pics of several and cut many tracks when i hunted coyotes on my buddies land

im not 100% sure that this is a real pic, if it isnt i want the name of the guy that shopped it so he can do some work on my 2010 bear pics :chuckle:

i know for sure that there is a cat problem in NCW ive seen 3 in the last year and cut several tracks, too bad im not living in WA anymore to help solve the problem

I don't see any reason to not believe it. I received the email over two weeks ago and all the previous emails it was sent to and from were all WSF&G email addresses.

Campmeat, we have a cabin just up the road from you off of Nicholson Creek. Couple years back a guy had a big cougar that he said was running with 5 others up on the ridge. Up to that point I thought they were a pretty solitary animal too.

I've lived here for 10 years and have seen 15 cougars. I hunt all the time and always hear stories about cougars. Nobody ever has a picture of a cat, never. You hear of the 1 on Sherman or some other place. We had a story 2 weeks ago about a cougar dragging a 110# dog off a porch on Long Alec Rd. Well guess what, B.S. It was a dog chasing deer that got shot by the neighbor. I'm just skeptical at these stories. To much internet doctoring of pictures or anything.

I imagine this is a real photo. On numerous occasions I have run across family groups of cougar hunting together in an area. The most I have seen together was a group of 6 in Ferry County many years ago. I did not turn loose on them.

This year there was a group of 3 or 4 cougar working an area for the last couple weeks (not sure, too many tracks), they are all hunting together in Ferry county. Brian cut the tracks the first time and one track appeared to be a young tom but we decided to leave them be. Brian told another dogger about them and he went and ran them and got his dogs tore up, the cats nearly killed one dog and at the vets office he said he had to chase the cat off his dog.

In 1996 my hunting partner turned loose on a group of three cats, one was a large tom. His 2 best dogs were killed and a third dog survived a bad bite to the head, but was never the same.

In about 1988ish I turned 3 dogs loose on two cats traveling together, a tom and female. One dog got sidetracked on a bobcat, but the other two dogs went through on the cougar tracks, both were killed with one bite to the head, crushed their skulls.

It is a terrible thing to lose a good dog, much less two or three dogs at once. If any dogger encounters multiple cats hunting together it is my advice you either walk away or turn a lot of dogs loose on the tracks so they can protect each other, and even then you are tossing a coin in the air for their survival.   :twocents:
