Has anyone on here heard about the cougars near Wenatchee?
« on: January 14, 2011, 06:13:41 PM »
I didn't see these posted... perhaps they are old news but a few people have emailed me these photos now... wondering if someone on here has the full story? Pretty impressive if it is not doctored!

Thanks,

I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Highly unlikely. Trust me, if that was caught on a trail camera, everybody and their brother would of heard about it. Don't believe it at all.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

It is legit. There are 3 photos total that I have seen.  8 cats total in two of the photos and a few less in one, but a mature cat is snarling at a young one. The speculation is that it is an older female with her current litter and one of her daughters with their current litter.

Not sure where Palisades is, but that was not what was listed in the original emails.

I am surprised it took this long to make it online.

Just looked up Palisades, and yes, not too far from the area described in the email.

Hope game/fish know about this area.  I wonder how many deer killed by 8 cats per month.   :yike:

It better be managed.

Mother cougars will share territory with their daughters and cougars can have from 1-6 kittens.  The average is 2.4  So a group like this is totally possible in areas with good prey populations.

Lots of people talk about how solitary cougars are but I dont believe they would have developed such a large vocabulary of vocalizations if that was always the case.

Independent-yes.  Solitary-not always

Just my opinion.

Here is some info I found that shows the possibility of having really dense cougar populations.

I got these pics in an email this morning.  A guy I worked with lives about 1/2 mile from where these were taken, and when I saw him a while back he said he had a cat coming around his place, but hadn't seen it long enough to get a shot off.  If he says cats are there, they ARE there.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"
