Blonde Mallard Hen!
«
on:
January 14, 2011, 06:29:59 PM »
I went for a morning hunt today. Shot a couple gadwal drakes, greenheads and this odd looking hen. She was flying with a drake. Has anyone seen one or shot one for that matter?

I saw one just a little blonder than that one time.. Is that what you'd call a piebald mallard or part domestic?

I wonder if it could be a Mallard Pin cross?

I was thinking pintail cross also. The bill it blue on top and kinda blotchy yellow on the bottom. The tail feathers also had some pintail characteristics.

Looks more pin to me than mallard. There are better duck experts on here though.

Yeah some pintail hens are very light colored.. If the legs are dark grey then I'd say pinny for sure

That looks more like a pinny to me as well, but I am not an expert by any means.
