Skid plate/vest for my English Springer Spaniel?
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:15:41 PM »
Just looking for some recommendations. He is a small lad, only 40-45 lbs right now but he will probably gain another 5 lbs. He is an upland dog and I run him through some pretty rough country. The cold never seems to bother him. He broke through ice in 15 degrees and never even shivered. He just plows through anything at full speed so I want a little chest protection as well as some blaze orange. He isn't as big as my last do so I have trouble keeping an eye on him in sage. The orange will make him more visible.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Do a Google search. I believe I saw one a year or so back for upland dogs that looked well made. My wife just talked with a fella whose upland dog was harpooned by a broken metal fence post. Dog recovered, and the fella was telling Pat about this ballistic cloth vest with a chest plate for upland dogs.

There are neoprene vests with with skid plates for water dogs but that would too hot to run around in.

Well I have done my research and found plenty of vests. I just trust the people on here more than some quail hunter in Georgia. I will however search for ballistic cloth.
