Compact .40 or .45
« on: January 16, 2011, 07:06:25 PM »
I'd like to get a compact .40 or .45.  I'm interested in a dependable semi-auto gun, but not necessarily a top end gun (price is a factor).  I'm thinking about an XD or something similar.  It needs to be small enough to conceal easily.  Any suggestions?

A month ago I got a three gun deal that I bought a XD40 in the deal.
I really wanted a Glock.I just shoot them pretty well. But I took the deal.
I traded it for a glock 22 a week later.The 23 is a great size for CC.
Either caliber is perfect for defense too,but I would go shoot both to see which one fits you best.

If you gots no price limit, then go look at the H&K and the Sigs.A little spendy but great guns.
For the money it's hard to beat a Glock, though

I sport a Glock23 .40, compact. Great gun. The ammo is easier and cheaper to find that the 45acp. Clip holds 13 (I think).

My vote goes for the Glock 27.

A little smaller than the compact XD. (significantly shorter height)  Goes bang every time.  Accurate too.  And with nine in the magazine, has firepower to spare.

I'd go with the glock. I had a dx. some peaple like then i hated mine.  I now have a glock33 in 357 sig and a 40 cal berral for it. it's alots better gun imo.

I have the Glock 27 and like it.  It is nice because when I use my inside the waist holster, you can't see it even with just a t-shirt on.  I also have the 22 which if in a bad situation, I can use the 22 mags in the 27.  I get a pretty good discount through my company and got the 27 with night sights for $450.

I had the same dilemma about a month ago. My buddy shoots glock and I found the Springfield XDM line. I don't have a large hand and the Glock just felt to bulky in the handle for me. I also was debating between the 40 and 45. I did a lot of research and found that the XDM to be IMO as good as the Glock and fit my hand very well with the medium grip insert. I bought the XDM 3.8 40 S&W and it is awesome. I conceal carry with the XDM no problem. Springfield is also releasing a compact version of the XDM 3.8 40 the end of this month.
Smoke em when ya see em!
