Naneum Unit

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the deer hunting in the Naneum Unit behind Ellensburg/Kittitas.  I go to school up at Central, and we went hiking back in there in my hiking class.  The instructor said it was mostly owned by a logging company, but they sold it to the state.  From what I saw it has pretty limited road access, which I really like.  There's an closed logging road  you can hike in on that follows Naneum Creek, I followed it up for a mile or so one day and found an area that was littered with rubs.  Just looking for some info from anyone really familiar with the area.  Might be a good after class evening hunt area for this upcoming season... That is unless I get drawn for my Firing Center tag.  Thanks

I used to be a CWU student and spent a fair amount of time up in that area.  Not a tremendous amount of deer, but they are there.  Some nice bucks came out of there this year.  I got a buck one season up there, but be prepared to deal with people.  What weapon are you going to use?  I think a bow or muzzle loader would be the better way to go, just because there are less people to deal with.  Hey Slamadoo, you dont happen to be Sam from the famous "Sam and Elliot" club do you?? if so, this is Cory, your shut down corner! haha
