What's at Watt's
« on: May 02, 2008, 07:07:39 PM »
Normally I don't tell where I look for sheds, but since a lot of people know about the Joe Watt area, I am not worried about losing a good spot.  I walked from 5:30 till 2:00pm and was lucky to find one six point and a deer antler from last year.  What a kick to see that elk antler lying there!  I was not too hopeful, but kept trying. I sat for a while and just looked at it.   The deer antler almost looks like a whitetail.
Don't know how others did, when the gate opens most of the rigs go right up the canyon like they are headed for the top.  I always park at the bottom and walk up the ridges, I guess they all have their favorite spots to look.

Two views of the elk antler.

And the deer antler.

What was left of a porcupine.

Saw a lot of elk, one herd of maybe 150-200, but only got a quick pick of these deer.  The elk were still very spooky.
